Residual heat flux in the iterative solution of the snow
surface energy balance. Note that when the estimated snow surface temperature is
above 0 °C, it is reset to 0 °C and the fluxes are recalculated. In this cases
the residual heat flux is considerably higher, and is added to the snow surface
heat flux, i.e. it is used for snow melt.
