SnowDensification

Value

Meaning

f(ice and liq. content)

The density of the snow pack is calculated as a function of the ice and water content of the snow and the snow age.

f(compaction rate)

The snow depth change with time (compaction rate) is estimated as a function of three processes (i) metamorphosis, (ii) overburden pressure, and (iii) snow melt. The new snow depth is used to estimate the snow density.
