Leaching and deep percolation of mineral N

If there is a horizontal drainage of water from the profile, nitrogen in the water solution is leached from the soil profile. The horizontal drainage transport of nitrate, qNO3dr, is calculated as:
                                                        (6.29)

where qdr is the total amount of drainage of water, θ(z) is the soil moisture content and z is the depth of the soil layer. The outflow of ammonium is calculated with the same equation but with the amount of ammonium, NNH4, multiplied by the adsorption correction factor (1-fN,ads).

If deep percolation of water, qdeep, is included in the simulation, the leaching of nitrate, qNO3dp, is calculated as:

                                                       (6.30)

The outflow of ammonium is calculated with the same equation but with the amount of ammonium, NNH4, multiplied by the adsorption correction factor (1-fN,ads).
